Girl, Your Health Matters
The Girl, Your Health Matters Conference is a transformative event designed to equip girls ages 9 to 18 with the knowledge and confidence to take charge of their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Hosted by the Call Me Beauty Mentoring Program, this free half-day conference will take place three times throughout the year across Lancaster County, Kershaw County, and the Buford Area.
📌 1 in 4 girls (ages 13-19) in the U.S. has missed school due to lack of period products.
📌 Many girls are taught to view their menstrual cycles as "gross" or unsanitary, contributing to stigma and misinformation.
📌 Over the last 5 years, the percentage of students at a healthy weight and with strong heart and lung health has declined due to reduced physical activity.
📌 South Carolina saw a 50% increase in children experiencing anxiety or depression between 2016 and 2020.
At the Girl, Your Health Matters Conference, we’ll be working to change that. Each conference includes interactive workshops led by community leaders covering:
🌿 Self-Care & Mental Wellness – Learn to manage emotions and break the stigma around mental wellness.
💪 Physical Health – Get moving with fitness sessions and healthy living education.
💖 Menstrual Education – Gain access to period products and accurate information.
Together, we’re building a future where girls feel empowered, informed, and confident in their health and wellness.
